McKay Brothers, a profitable and rapidly growing provider of specialty telecom and financial market data, has an immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager at the Company’s US headquarters in uptown Oakland, California.

The HR Manager, reporting to the CFO/COO, will provide wide-ranging HR services with visibility into the full spectrum of HR operations through hands-on involvement with all business functions of a successful & profitable emerging growth technology company. In this Sole Practitioner HR Role, responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Talent Acquisition: managing the process with Hiring Managers and internal HR Coordinator, updating job descriptions, advising Hiring Managers on process, and developing offers of employment;
  • Managing the new hire onboarding and departing employee off-boarding processes;
  • Working with our PEO (TriNet) to manage the HRIS, Annual Benefits Open Enrollment, 401k compliance, Workers’ Comp renewal, and leaves of absence;
  • Counseling management and employees on employment issues, performing conflict resolution, and liaising with HR legal counsel as necessary;
    Understanding and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local HR requirements; communicating potential changes, and advising management on needed actions;
  • Managing Employment Compliance training;
  • Managing the international assignments for both Inpatriates and Expatriates; and
  • Managing/improving the performance management and annual compensation processes.

Preferred Experience
The ideal candidate is an experienced Human Resources professional eager to work in a highly collaborative environment alongside a collegial group of seasoned professionals. Our ideal candidate possesses:

  • Eagerness to “roll up one’s sleeves” and perform administrative HR functions as a Sole Practitioner;
  • Strong collaborative and influencing skills and ability to support at-large US employees;
  • Knowledge of legal requirements related to day to day management of employees;
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced and rapidly evolving work environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and personal organization;
  • A mindset of continuous improvement; and
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work well with all levels of employees and managers.
  • Experience working with emerging growth companies is a plus.

Minimum Experience

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management, Business Management or Organizational Behavior;
  • 5+ years’ progressively increasing responsibility with hands-on experience as an HR Generalist; and
  • Certified as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).

We wish to engage qualified candidates who are interested in a part time (30 hrs.) or full time role on-site in uptown Oakland. Compensation will be commensurate also with experience.
